After Marv renames themselves as the Sticky Bandits, they immediately begin seeking a new target to rob, after which they plan to acquire fake passports and flee the United States. They eventually decide to rob Duncan's Toy Chest, a successful toy shop that intends to donate all of it's earnings to a children's hospital. Harry disagrees with the practice, calling it "sick" and reminding Marv that they need to keep a low profile, though Marv insists that they need a calling card as "all the great ones leave their mark".

The next morning, when Natalie and Peter went out for the day and Molly left, leaving Kevin with the mansion's butler Prescott, Marv and Vera decided to gain access to the mansion in order to have a look around. When they approached the mansion, Kevin spotted the pair and recognized Marv and he attempted to warn Prescott through a buzzer, although to no avail . Marv used a remote which was able to command the mansion and requested it turn off the security and let them in. Gaining access, the pair explore, but were scuppered when Kevin started flooding the place, causing Marv and Vera to be swept away and down the stairs. Marv and Harry later caught Kevin when he fled the Plaza Hotel after being exposed for having a stolen credit card by the staff. Kevin managed to flee their grasps once again when he caused Marv and Harry to be punched by the same woman that Marv had previously been slapped for hitting on earlier and escaped in the back of a horse-drawn carriage.
When Marv went to try and get Kevin in his bedroom, he fell into another trap and was caught under a cupboard. Marv followed her, but a trapped Molly ordered him to leave Vera and get the kid. Marv was about to do as he was told, but Kevin flew his remote control plane into Marv's crotch, causing him to tumble down the stairs and into Vera.

One night, Marv and Vera watched Natalie's mansion, where Marv disclosed the plan to Vera. The pair of them ducked when a taxi pulled up, with Marv being unaware that it was Kevin himself arriving, as Kevin's father Peter McCallister was conveniently in a relationship with Natalie. Once Marv was released from prison, he cut ties with Harry as he realized that being with him had only resulted in jail, and later married a woman named Vera, with the pair of them starting to work under Marv's mother Molly. He then kicked the door open and, not noticing a gaping hole in the floor, fell down a three-story drop to the basement.
Harry impersonates a police officer in order to discover which families will be leaving for Christmas. While robbing these houses, Marv tends to leave the water running and block the sinks, leading to the houses being flooded and the real law enforcement officers knowing which houses they've hit. Kevin wakes up to find the house empty as the family's flight takes off.
However, the other flashback visions were also not shown exactly as they had happened earlier in the film. They were all a little exaggerated as usually happens in a kid's mind. As Harry is driving down the driveway after a burglary he is wearing his black knit cap. Just after he hits the brakes to avoid hitting Kevin he pokes his head out to tell Kevin to be more careful and his cap is missing.
Harry once again attempts to climb up the stairs and is successful this time. He grabs the doorknob, which burns his hand, which he cools in a pile of snow. Marv struggles up the tar-covered basement steps—losing his shoes and socks in the process—and falls down them after stepping on the nail. Harry goes around to the front door, but slips on the icy stairs. Marv does the same at the basement steps, sliding down on them to the door and struggling to stand up in the frozen ground.
Buzz is clearly stuffing the last piece of Kevin's pizza in his mouth. In the next shot he is shown with half a piece of pizza in his hand and his mouth is not stuffed. After the McCallisters realize they've overslept and are frantically running around the house, Heather goes up the same set of stairs twice.
